 New Construction Southern Construction & Design, Inc. is a licensed residential homebuilder with a committed vision to build residential homes that are unique and timeless which are built to last a lifetime. SCD begins every project with a “team” approach. Everyone involved in the project is on the Team. This includes not only SCD but also the customer, all the suppliers, and all the subcontractors. We are working toward one goal: to complete a quality project to meet the customer’s needs/requirements, with minimal conflicts and disruptions, on a timely basis, and within budget. Everyone is responsible for this goal. Our process begins on day one, discussing and defining customer requirements, designing and providing possible solutions, developing a plan and a schedule, and then implementing the project. We build homes in both Madison and Limestone counties and are licensed in Huntsville, Madison, Athens, and Ardmore, in addition to the Alabama counties. We like to limit our workload to no more than 10 projects at one time, and it is usually about five or six, as we like to be able to devote the necessary attention to each project to assure a quality end result. We schedule our projects so that the same main function/tasks are not running parallel (conflicting) with each other. For example, we're not framing two houses at the same time; after one is framed, the framers can begin the next. This makes the overall building process run smooth, with each subcontractor concentrating on the project at hand. In each new home, we attempt to incorporate desireable features and amenities such as above and below ground storm shelters, structured wiring, audio surround systems, network wiring, home security, wireless camera capabilities, home automation products, economical and environmental features. We have been implementing green, sustainable strategies in our projects for many years. Many of our projects have included spray foam insulation, geothermal heating and cooling, Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF), water reclamation systems, home orientation and window placement planning, radiant barrier roof decking, indoor air quality, engineered lumber, tankless water heaters, lighting control systems, crawl space conditioning, and HVAC controls, to name a few. |
