![]() Remodeling ADDITIONS & REMODELING The homeowners of today may select the option to expand the existing space of their current residence in order to accommodate their needs and desires. Additions are typically constructed adjacent to the main structure of the residence, and usually non-invasive to the residence. Remodeling is invasive to the home, and based on the size of the project, may require the homeowner to find living space elsewhere until the project is complete. Many projects, though, are of the size or in a location within the home that the homeowner continues to live within the structure being remodeled. All SCD addition projects that require design can be provided to the homeowner and the project will be constructed from those plans. SUNROOMS & PORCHES These additions are very popular as they offer a retreat to the homeowner in a bright and open setting to enjoy numerous activities. Sunrooms are constructed in a manner consistent with the home they are to be added, i.e. crawlspace or slab construction. The structures are typically located in existing bay windows located in the kitchen or areas adjacent to the main family room area. Screened porches and covered porch additions are usually built over or above existing exterior decks and can be designed in a variety of shapes and sizes. The slope and location of the existing roof structure often is the critical design factor for porch additions. These projects are offered as Design/Build to the homeowner as well. KITCHENS & BATHROOMS Kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects are areas that are favorites of existing homeowners to upgrade with additional space, features, or a complete renovation of existing space. Kitchen/Bath remodels often are in residences, which are older and are designed with features not indicative to the current trends in design. This includes often, new cabinets, countertops, lighting fixtures, and flooring upgrades. Both types of remodels are of a general higher cost than additions and space reclamation in existing residences, and they always are the cause of inconvenience to the homeowner once construction begins. This is simply due to the fact that all members of the family utilize these areas numerous times of the day. SCD Inc. strives to minimize this impact with proper planning and execution of the remodel project. |
